Book Description
We all have choices to make every day, even the youngest children. The choices we make play a large part in forming who we grow to be as adults. For kids, those choices can include whether to be obedient or disobedient, to share or be selfish, to have a good attitude or not, and more. John Ortberg addresses the ability to choose in a whimsical way by inviting children to use their “magnificent chooser” that God gave them to make right choices daily. Parents will love reading this book to their kids, and kids will enjoy the content while learning lessons that will stay with them throughout their lives.
Book Review
It is a beautiful journey for individuals and also for families to discover their unique dance in making choices. Once a mother says goodbye to his or her kindergartner at the bus stop, she has released her precious child to the world of choices at their school, along with their peers. There are tons of books written about the human will but what I applaud enthusiastically is John Ortberg's biblical approach to the age old battle of 'self on the throne' and the beauty of knowing God's ultimate will for us. What's so spectacular about this well-written children's story is a clear foundation in naming self, Chooser. The author successfully weaves our ability to make choices every day and farther down the road when we're a bit grown up, hopefully, we will want to choose God's very best for our lives.
Children will see whether they're shy or an extrovert, they can choose their favorite clothes to wear or when they're tired and want to go to bed. The beauty of making simple choices, like reading a book can develop into a lifelong passion in reading books. You see, your choices get better and stronger.
I love the book. It's the right size, the right amount of pages and the illustrations are bright and refreshing. For those who find difficulty in making choices, and perhaps make some wrong choices, the heart of the story encourages you to begin anew! I highly recommend the book for home and Sunday School library. It's brilliant for little minds! You see, doing things God's way and making wise choices is the best decision and He promises He'll come and help us, too.
5/5 stars! Love the book. Highly recommend!
