PearlMountain Technology is a dedicated software developer. I have used many colorful templates, especially the mosaic one in the collage above. It's easy to use the various layout designs, plus typing any text onto your collage is fun to do. From weddings to birthday parties, your favorite travel and new baby photos can be organized with the right background and spacing. I like the fact that you have many options to choose from as to the sizing and the amount of photos to upload and use. You can save your finished work as a jpg or pdf file and even share your treasured work on FaceBook.

Picture-Taking Mode

I was extremely blessed to see so much color and light in this morning's sunrise.  I have been reading out of a devotional book, Blessings of the Cross. What are the skies like where you live? Mine's glorious! For more wonderful photos, visit Skywatch Friday

My camera offers tons of settings to make shooting easier. I'm learning some of them to sharpen my photography skills.

Selecting a Picture-Taking Mode

With my Nikon D200 in hand, I chose a picture taking mode for my first three pictures. I change modes by pressing the Mode button on the right side of the camera near the shutter release button, and then turning the main command dial on the back of the camera until the mode I want to use appears in the status LCD on the top panel.

The D200's main shooting modes are Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Manual. They're represented in the status LCD by the letters, P, A, S, and M.

Program

When to Use: When I want my camera to make the basic settings, I have full control over adjustments to fine-tune my picture.

Don't Use: If I need to use a particular lens opening to control the depth of field or a certain shutter speed to stop action or to use blur for creative purposes.

Aperture Priority

When to Use: When I want to use a particular lens opening, usually to control how much of my image is in sharp focus, and I want the D200 to select a shutter speed automatically.

Don't Use: Aperture Priority is not a good choice if there is too much light for my selected aperture with the available range of shutter speeds at the current ISO sensitivity setting.

Shutter Priority

When to Use: When I want to use a particular shutter speed, usually to freeze or blur moving objects, and I want my camera to select the lens opening for me automatically.

Don't Use: If there is insufficient light or too much light to produce a good exposure at the preferred shutter speed.

Manual

When to Use: When I want full control over the shutter speed and lens opening to produce a particular tonal effect. Manual can also be useful when I'm working with external electronic flash units and I need to set the shutter speed and lens opening myself.

Don't Use: If I'm unable to measure or guess exposure properly, or I don't have time to adjust exposure after reviewing the LCD screen.

I'm just learning about my camera. So, any tips are greatly appreciated.

Discovery Lake

We went for a drive, about a 45 minute trip one way from our ranch, and had to see this great 360 degree view that a friend told us about. We were so glad we'd experienced Two Peaks, a little unknown park with an enormous inland and coastal view. It's located in San Marcos, California. This is a view of Discovery Lake from Two Peaks. Two Peaks is located near a University, so there are plenty of houses nearby, lots of students, as well as water sources. Discovery Lake is so refreshing to see from above.

Lake San Marcos offers the community a great golf course,  private residential and nursing facilities. There's a very nice restaurant off the water. I've been there and have had a pleasant meal. Lots of birds to see and fish to catch.

You're looking out towards the Pacific Ocean in this photo and you can see the Carlsbad Lagoon and #5 (main Freeway moving tons of people from San Diego to L.A. and then some. Although it wasn't a very clear day for July, I plan to return when it's not so overcast with my Nikon D200.

To the left of the tan-white buildings is a leveled square patch of land. Located here is the old San Marcos High School. Well, there's nothing left of it! They plan to build a new one. It seems like ages ago that my grown children attended there. Although the buildings are removed, the memories will always live on in our hearts.

 

 My grandson is on top of the world! It was wonderful to return to our old stomping grounds and enjoy a new experience together with one of our grandchildren. Remember the folk song by Arlo Guthrie, "This Land is Your Land"? Well, it was that kind of moment, seeing the future in front of youth taking a leap of faith.

Kids-e-Connection

My 4-year-old grandson felt like "King of the Mountain" until he stepped down from 'his rock' and discovered a 10-year-old rope climber doing his thing. He seems to be an admirer thinking to himself, "That's what I want to do when I'm bigger!"

This is an easy read since the passage is familiar and it's a small paperback book. I can't wait to post my review on this one because the text is so inspiring. My hubby heard Tony Evans speak at Promise Keepers and you probably saw Tony's son on a recent TV show, The Voice.
