3. I LOVE clotheslines, the smell of fresh air-dried clothes. So, using the dryer when the sun's out.

opened in 1913
was the FIRST branch of the
San Diego County Public Library system
has more than 25,000 library
cardholders (nearly half of all local residents)
circulates over 200,000 items per year
(650 items per day)
has one of the highest public utilization
rates in the county"

Most eye-catching is the building’s “green roof.” The special roof is covered in 3,500 square feet of plants that help insulate the building and absorb rainwater. It’s comprised of modular trays of native and adaptive plants, which can be easily replaced or moved as needed, on top of a waterproof cover.

Inside, the library has group meeting rooms and study spaces, banks of new computers, public Wi-Fi, automated checkout and a family homework and tutoring center.

Local artists will be on rotating display, while artifacts from Fallbrook’s past have been permanently installed throughout the building.

The snazzy design has earned the library a silver LEED rating – a certification that rates environmentally friendly building practices – as well as a 2009 design award of merit from the California Council of the Society of American Registered Architects.

Our community is blessed to have this cool looking library as well as a cultural center.

Our library is indeed, our home away from home.
