Little Deuce Coupe |
My grandson, having a blast at an outdoor car show, found several cars just the right size for him! LadyD Books is sharing photos for the following memes today, Blue Monday and Mellow Yellow Monday.
Are you familiar with the song?
Lyrics-Little deuce coupe
You don't know what I got
Little deuce coupe
You don't know what I got
Well I'm not braggin' babe so don't put me down
But Ive got the fastest set of wheels in town
When something comes up to me he don't even try
Cause if I had a set of wings man I know she could fly
Shes my little deuce coupe
You don't know what I got
(my little deuce coupe)
(you don't know what I got)
Just a little deuce coupe with a flat head mill
But shell walk a thunderbird like (shes) its standin' still
Shes ported and relieved and shes stroked and bored.
Shell do a hundred and forty with the top end floored
Shes my little deuce coupe
You don't know what I got
(my little deuce coupe)
(you don't know what I got)
Shes got a competition clutch with the four on the floor
And she purrs like a kitten till the lake pipes roar
And if that ain't enough to make you flip your lid
There's one more thing, I got the pink slip daddy
And comin' off the line when the light turns green
Well she blows em outta the water like you never seen
I get pushed out of shape and its hard to steer
When I get rubber in all four gears
Shes my little deuce coupe
You don't know what I got
(my little deuce coupe)
(you don't know what I got)
Shes my little deuce coupe
You don't know what I got
(my little deuce coupe)
(you don't know what I got)
Shes my little deuce coupe
You don't know what I got
The Beach Boys wrote a song about a car; such a classic and we're still listening to it many years later!
Here are some of our favorite children's books about cars, tractors and trucks.
Richard Scarry’s Cars and Trucks and Things That Go
A picture book for ages 3-8 about a big red tractor.
Katy and the Big Snow
DK Big Book of Race Cars, a 32-page nonfiction book with colorful photographs by Richard Leeney and information about some amazing race cars. This is for older kids, 8-12.
Probably our first choice in reading a good book is,Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things That Go
We also like
On the Road by Susan Steggall

It seems my 3 grandsons sure own lots of little cars, matchbox cars, and big trucks also. Such a wonderful dream come true to ride outdoors and visit some of the big cars, too!

{sigh} A boy's first car.

My favourite Beach Boys song was "Fun Fun Fun." I learned to drive in my folks T-Bird (I know, tough life), and would take it out cruising once in a while when I should have been at the library. Oh, wicked me. Thanks for choosing to follow my blog about Float Cabin Living. If you are a Kindle users, we are offering Wayne's newest Coastal BC Stories book "Off the Grid" for free from August 1-2. Maybe you'd like to read about life up the lake and off the grid. - Margy
