Review- His Name Is Jesus by Max Lucado

I was delighted to receive another Max Lucado book for review. A big "thank you" to Thomas Nelson! This gorgeous hardcover gift book will draw in all age groups with many beautiful, elegant illustrations to behold. If you're not looking for religion, doctrine, nor a system... but an inspirational journey, then this is the book for you.

His Name is Jesus: The Promise of God's Love Fulfilled

The nuts and bolts of the book are basically about Jesus' birth, calling, crucifixion, resurrection, and legacy. When I mentioned "inspirational reading" earlier, I find that Max Lucado's style warmly presents biblical stories in such a way that bring about new reflections. Max has a strong approach to letting the reader know that God helps people, that God goes to those who have time to hear Him. Jesus has seen all the storms and He has words that will comfort your heart with 'it's all right'. Max also has a really good slant on presenting God's heavenly entrance, His birth.

Story upon story of Jesus' mission will stir you emotionally with visual evidence that Jesus has a passion for the forgotten. Have you ever felt lonely and discouraged? Jesus' actions told over and over in this book will whisper to you words that Jesus cares. When the book winds down with His death, you may be asking yourself, I thought LadyD said this is an inspirational book? Well, let me just say that the maker of the stars died for you. Max says, "The hands that hung the stars in the heavens also wiped away the tears of the widow and the leper". The more you read about Christ's actions, these specific acts of kindness are intended to win your trust in Him.

His Name Is Jesus is a quality book, no a very elegant book, inside and out! I give it 5 stars... a book of promise and hope that will encourage you, inspire you and strengthen you to trust Jesus more. Yes, I recommend this book to you!

Book Description

Max Lucado's first book that journeys from the birth of Christ to His resurrection.
Drawing from his classic writing on Jesus combined with new reflections and breathtaking art, Max Lucado again opens our eyes—and hearts—to the life and work of the Savior in a way that will change lives forever. “Jesus was, at once, common and not; alternately normal and heroic. One minute blending in with the domino players in the park, the next commanding the hell out of madmen, disease out of the dying, and death out of the dead.” Who was this man who spoke as easily with kids and fishermen as widows and waves? It is the question that has echoed down through the centuries to us today, and here is a visually stunning book that answers aspects of that question.

His Name is Jesus: The Promise of God's Love Fulfilled

P.S. My suggestion to Thomas Nelson on this book regarding its size would be to make it a bit smaller... just my opinion. If one is reading it on their coffee table, then it's a perfect size book. For me, I would prefer it not to be the size of a lap book because it was a bit uncomfortable to hold , but then I believe the size was chosen to support the size of all the elegant illustrations and that's a good thing. Get the book, you'll love it, especially that it comes with its own slipcase.
